Your time with the cameras

The camcorders arrive a few days before the wedding. Once you've booked, I'll WhatsApp or email you to arrange a delivery day that's good for you. You'll need to be home to sign for them. You'll have the cameras for a few days either side of the wedding, at no extra cost. Getting married abroad? The extended hire (£950) gives you longer, so you have plenty of time to travel with the cameras. You're welcome to film the rest of your trip too, and you'll get all that footage as well. Not every destination wedding needs that long, so if your trip is shorter, get in touch and we can work out a hire that fits.

I'll then arrange a Royal Mail collection for a few days after the wedding. You can leave it in a safe place if you have one.

Camcorders can also be delivered to or collected from your workplace, or your venue - but for a venue, only once the venue has explicitly agreed to receive and hold them for you. Please get that confirmed with the venue and let me know before I book delivery.

In the box

Two camcorders in a protective case, inside an outer cardboard box - please keep both boxes, you'll need them to send everything back. Each camcorder comes with a fully charged battery fitted. No mic or tripod are included - that's intentional, it's part of the wobbly, home-video look.

After the wedding

Once I've got the camcorders back, I'll get started on your films.

Your Instagram Reel (ambient sound only, no music added, so you're free to soundtrack it yourself) lands first, ahead of everything else. Tag @retrocamcorderfilms if you share it!

Your full highlights film and the Full Camcorder Cut (every usable moment, with mistakes trimmed out) will follow within 4 weeks of me receiving the footage. If you'd rather have a folder of raw clips instead of the compiled cut, just let me know before I start editing.

Booked Raw Footage Hire (£300)? You won't receive a highlights film or Instagram Reel - instead you'll get the Full Camcorder Cut plus a folder of all your raw footage, within 4 weeks of me receiving the camcorders back.

Chosen the DJI Pocket 4s? Everything on this page works exactly the same as for the vintage Handycams, just with sharper, smoother footage.

Booked Edits Only (£200)? There are no camcorders to post or return. After the wedding, send me your footage by WeTransfer to camcorderweddingfilms@gmail.com, and you'll get the same highlights film, Instagram Reel and Full Camcorder Cut within 4 weeks of me receiving it.

Want a particular song on your highlights film? Pick one from Lickd's licensed catalogue. You'll have 2 weeks from when I ask you to choose - if I haven't heard from you by then, I'll pick something that fits.

Here's a PDF with everything you need to know about how the camcorders work:

We can speak as much or as little as you like between now and your wedding day - if you need any help or advice, just get in touch. Also, make sure you're following me on Instagram!

CAMCORDER WEDDINGS - PASS THE CAMCORDER: TERMS & CONDITIONS

These terms and conditions are provided in the interests of both "the Client", defined as the couple named on the booking form, and Camcorder Weddings (Anna Downing) ("the Videographer"), a trading name of Anna Pumer Photography Ltd ("the Company").

Please ensure that you have read and understood these terms before placing your booking. The Client is deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions in full upon signing the booking form and making the payment applicable under Section 6.

These terms represent the total agreement made between the parties and cannot be varied by the Client unless expressly agreed by the Videographer in writing.

1. The Pass the Camcorder Service

1.1 Pass the Camcorder lets the Client hire two camcorders and film their own wedding day, in the fun, nostalgic and informal aesthetic associated with home video from the 1990s and 2000s. The Videographer edits the Client's footage into a finished highlights film, Full Camcorder Cut and Instagram Reel, as described in Section 11.

1.2 The finished highlights film will be approximately 5 minutes long, depending on the footage supplied. A separate, longer compilation of the day's footage is also included - see Section 4, Full Camcorder Cut.

1.3 The highlights film is set to music. It is not a full recording of the wedding ceremony, speeches or other individual events - see Section 2, Audio.

1.4 The Client may choose either two vintage Sony Handycam camcorders or two DJI Pocket 4 cameras. The DJI Pocket 4 cameras are offered at the same price and on exactly the same terms as the Handycams, and every reference in these terms to "camcorders" includes DJI Pocket 4 cameras where the Client has chosen them.

1.5 Pass the Camcorder is also available as Raw Footage Hire (£300), without an edited highlights film or Instagram Reel (see Sections 10.18-10.21), and as Edits Only (£200), where the Client films on their own camera and no equipment is hired (see Section 11A).

2. Audio

2.1 The camcorders do not provide professional audio recording, and no dedicated audio recorders or other professional sound equipment are supplied. Where ambient sound or naturally occurring spoken words (such as parts of vows, speeches, readings or conversation) are picked up with sufficient quality, they may be kept in the main film. This reflects only what was naturally captured in the moment - the Videographer does not creatively edit, cut together or "weave" spoken audio from different points of the day into an artificial sequence.

2.2 The main highlights film is primarily set to music, professionally licensed via Lickd (or an equivalent licensed music platform). The Client may choose a track from Lickd's licensed catalogue, and will have 2 weeks from being asked to make a selection. If no selection is received within that time, the Videographer will choose a track that fits the film.

2.3 The Client understands that audio is not professionally recorded and that no particular audio, speech, vows or spoken words are guaranteed to be included. The Client should not book on the expectation of receiving a recording of vows, ceremony, speeches or other spoken content.

3. Instagram Reel

3.1 Pass the Camcorder includes a 1-minute vertical Instagram Reel, edited from the Client's footage and delivered in a format suitable for social media.

3.2 The Reel is a creative highlights edit and is not a separate record of the full wedding. The Videographer retains creative discretion over the selection, order and editing of footage used.

3.3 The Reel is not set to music. It will include only the ambient sound naturally captured on the day (or no audio, where none of sufficient quality was captured), so the Client is free to add their own choice of music or soundtrack when sharing it.

3.4 The Reel is delivered ahead of the main highlights film and Full Camcorder Cut, which follow within 4 weeks of the Videographer receiving the footage back, as set out in Section 7.

3.5 The Client is welcome (though not obliged) to tag @retrocamcorderfilms when sharing the Reel or the finished film on social media.

4. Full Camcorder Cut

4.1 In addition to the edited highlights film (Section 1) and Instagram Reel (Section 3), Pass the Camcorder includes a Full Camcorder Cut, which compiles all usable footage captured on the day into one continuous film, with clear mistakes removed (such as accidental recording, extended blank or unusable footage, and duplicate or redundant segments).

4.2 The Full Camcorder Cut is not set to music and is presented largely in the order it was captured, without the creative editing, restructuring or storytelling applied to the main highlights film.

4.3 Where the Client would prefer not to receive the Full Camcorder Cut as a single compiled film, they may instead request delivery of the underlying footage as a folder of individual video files, at no additional cost. This request should be made in writing before editing begins.

4.4 The Full Camcorder Cut (or folder of files, where requested) is delivered alongside the main highlights film, within the timescales set out in Section 7.

5. The Camcorder Aesthetic

5.1 The Client acknowledges that the intentionally imperfect nature of consumer camcorder footage - including camera shake, wobbly movement, zooming, imperfect focus, exposure changes, grain, digital noise, blown highlights, low-light noise and other artefacts associated with older consumer video cameras - forms an essential part of the service and is not a fault or failure of it.

5.2 The Videographer has full creative and artistic licence over the way the footage is edited.

5.3 Where the Client chooses DJI Pocket 4 cameras, the footage will be sharper and steadier than vintage camcorder footage, but it is still filmed by the Client and their guests rather than by a professional. Sections 5.1 and 5.2 apply in the same way, so far as they relate to how the footage is filmed and edited.

6. Booking and Payment

6.1 A deposit of £100 is payable at the time of booking to confirm and secure the Client's wedding date. The deposit is non-refundable after the cooling-off period described in Section 12.1, except where otherwise required by law. 6.1A The remaining balance of the package price is payable no later than 4 weeks before the wedding date, following an invoice from the Videographer. Where the booking is made less than 5 weeks before the wedding date, the full package price is payable at the time of booking. 6.1B If the balance is not received by the due date, the Videographer reserves the right not to dispatch the equipment or provide the services until payment has been received, or to treat the contract as cancelled by the Client.

6.2 Payment may be made by the method set out on the booking form or invoice.

6.3 Any payment that may become due under Section 10 in respect of damage to hired camcorders is separate from, and not a substitute for, the amounts due under this section, and is not treated as a refundable deposit.

7. Delivery of Films

7.1 The finished highlights film and Full Camcorder Cut will be delivered digitally within 4 weeks of the Videographer receiving the footage back, provided the footage is accessible for editing. The Instagram Reel is delivered ahead of these, per Section 3.4.

7.2 Delivery will normally be via an online gallery, download link or other suitable digital delivery method. The Client is responsible for downloading and safely storing their finished films once delivered - the Videographer cannot guarantee permanent online storage and recommends the Client keeps their own backup copies.

8. Copyright and Use of the Film

8.1 Copyright in all footage and films created by the Videographer remains the property of the Videographer in accordance with the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.

8.2 The Client is granted a personal, non-exclusive licence to download, keep and share the completed highlights film, Full Camcorder Cut and Instagram Reel for personal use, including on personal social media accounts.

8.3 The Client may not sell, commercially license, substantially alter or commercially exploit the footage without written permission from the Videographer, and may not apply filters, colour grading or other alterations that materially change the finished highlights film or Full Camcorder Cut and present the altered version as the Videographer's work. For the avoidance of doubt, adding the Client's own choice of music to the Instagram Reel as contemplated in Section 3.3 is permitted.

9. Raw Footage

9.1 Except under Raw Footage Hire (Sections 10.18-10.21), raw and unedited footage beyond the Full Camcorder Cut (or folder of files, where requested under Section 4.3) is not included in the standard service, and the Videographer is not required to provide unused, rejected footage excluded as a clear mistake under Section 4.1.

9.2 The Videographer may delete unused footage, including the footage supplied by the Client, once the final films have been delivered and a reasonable period has elapsed.

10. The Hire

10.1 Under Pass the Camcorder, the Client receives two camcorders (either vintage Sony Handycams or DJI Pocket 4 cameras, as set out in Section 1.4) and films their own wedding day. The package is available as a standard hire (£500) or, for destination weddings, an extended hire (£950) - see 10.16-10.17. A Raw Footage Hire option, without an edited highlights film or Instagram Reel, is also available as a standard hire (£300) - see 10.18-10.21.

10.2 No refundable damage deposit is charged for this package. Instead, any charge for damage to the equipment is dealt with under 10.13-10.14 below.

10.3 The two camcorders are supplied in a protective case, itself shipped inside an outer cardboard box for transit. The Client must retain both for the duration of the hire, for use when returning the equipment.

10.4 Each camcorder is supplied with one fully charged battery fitted. No microphones, tripods or stabilisers are included - this is intentional and forms part of the informal, wobbly, nostalgic aesthetic of the service.

10.5 The hire period includes the wedding day and is agreed with the Client before delivery, usually a few days either side of the wedding. Delivery is arranged for shortly before the hire period begins, to allow for transit, and collection is arranged for shortly after it ends. The Videographer will confirm the delivery and collection dates with the Client before the wedding.

10.6 Delivery and collection are arranged by the Videographer via Royal Mail (or an equivalent tracked courier), to and from the Client's address, unless Section 10.7 applies. The Client must be present to sign for delivery, and to hand over or sign for collection, unless they have a safe space to leave the equipment for collection.

10.7 Delivery to, or collection from, the wedding venue instead of the Client's home address is possible only where the venue has given explicit agreement to receive, hold and release the equipment. It is the Client's responsibility to obtain this agreement in advance and confirm it to the Videographer before delivery is arranged. Unless otherwise agreed, the Videographer's address for these purposes is 17 Geers Wood, Heathfield, East Sussex, TN21 0AR.

10.8 The Client is responsible for the camcorders from the time of delivery until they are confirmed received back by the Videographer, and must take reasonable care of them: no intentional misuse, modification, dismantling or attempted repair, and no exposure to rain, moisture or other liquids - the camcorders are not waterproof.

10.9 The Client acknowledges that footage captured using the hire camcorders will vary in quality depending on lighting, camera handling, battery life, camera settings and other conditions on the day.

10.10 Equipment will be inspected by the Videographer on return. Normal wear and tear from reasonable use - including minor cosmetic marks or scratches - is acceptable and will not result in any charge.

10.11 The Client is responsible for the reasonable cost of repairing or replacing equipment damaged beyond normal wear and tear (including major scratches, cracks, broken or missing parts, liquid or water damage, or damage caused by misuse or negligence), or for equipment that is lost, stolen or not returned. This cost is capped at £150 per camcorder for the vintage Handycams, or £400 per camera for the DJI Pocket 4, regardless of the actual repair or replacement cost. The Videographer will act reasonably and fairly in assessing any damage and will provide the Client with details of the charge.

10.12 Where any repair or replacement payment is due under 10.11, the Videographer will not deliver the finished films edited from the Client's footage until that payment has been received in full.

10.13 The Client's guests may use the camcorders to capture additional footage. The Videographer is not responsible for guests, or the camcorders, obstructing or getting in the way of the couple's main photographer or videographer (where separately booked) - this is the Client's responsibility to manage.

10.14 Because filming under this package is carried out solely by the Client using the hired equipment, and is entirely outside the Videographer's control, the Videographer shall have no liability if all or any of the footage captured is lost, corrupted, too dark to see, or otherwise unusable for any reason. No professional lighting is supplied as part of this package.

10.15 The Videographer takes reasonable care to ensure the camcorders and batteries are in good working order before dispatch. However, equipment can occasionally malfunction - for example, a camcorder failing to record, or a battery draining unexpectedly quickly or failing to hold charge. Where this happens through no fault of the Client, the Videographer's liability is limited to a refund of the amount paid for the Pass the Camcorder package, and does not extend to any other loss, including loss of footage, memories or enjoyment of the day.

10.16 In addition to the standard hire described above, Pass the Camcorder is also available as an extended hire for destination weddings, at a total package price of £950. Under the extended hire, the Client has full use of both camcorders for a longer period agreed with the Videographer, with delivery and collection arranged either side to allow for transit, following the same principles as Sections 10.5-10.7. The extended hire is not required for every wedding abroad: where the Client's travel plans allow, a shorter hire period may be agreed with the Videographer in writing before delivery is arranged.

10.17 For destination weddings, delivery and collection are still arranged to and from a UK address only - the Videographer does not ship internationally. It is the Client's responsibility to transport the camcorders to and from the wedding destination, including meeting any customs or airline requirements, and the Client remains responsible for the equipment throughout, in accordance with Section 10.8.

10.18 Raw Footage Hire is a standard hire of two camcorders at a total package price of £300. All provisions of this Section 10 apply to Raw Footage Hire in the same way as to the standard hire, including delivery, collection, care of the equipment, damage charges and liability.

10.19 Under Raw Footage Hire, the Client receives (a) the Full Camcorder Cut as described in Section 4.1 and 4.2, and (b) a folder containing all of the raw footage captured on the camcorders, as individual video files. For the avoidance of doubt, the option in Section 4.3 to receive a folder of files instead of the Full Camcorder Cut does not apply, as both are provided.

10.20 Raw Footage Hire does not include an edited highlights film, an Instagram Reel, music or any creative editing. Sections 1.2, 1.3, 2.2, 3 and 11, so far as they relate to the highlights film, Instagram Reel or music, do not apply to Raw Footage Hire.

10.21 The Full Camcorder Cut and folder of raw footage will be delivered digitally within 4 weeks of the Videographer receiving the footage back, in accordance with Section 7.2.

11. Hire Film Editing

11.1 Pass the Camcorder includes the Videographer editing the footage captured by the Client into a finished wedding highlights film, Full Camcorder Cut and Instagram Reel.

11.2 The finished highlights film will be approximately 5 minutes long, depending on the footage supplied, and set to music as described in Section 2.2. The Full Camcorder Cut and Instagram Reel are not set to music, per Sections 3.3 and 4.2.

11.3 The same audio limitations described in Section 2 apply: the cameras do not provide professional audio recording and no full ceremony, speeches or other spoken content are guaranteed.

11.4 The final edit will be based on the footage supplied by the Client - the Videographer cannot create footage that was not captured - and retains creative discretion over its selection and editing. See Section 7 for delivery timescales and Section 3.4 for Reel delivery.

11A. Edits Only

11A.1 Edits Only is available at a total package price of £200, for Clients who film their wedding on their own camcorder or camera. No equipment is hired, delivered or collected, so Section 10 does not apply to Edits Only, except Sections 10.13 and 10.14, which apply to the Client's own camera and footage in the same way as to hired camcorders.

11A.2 After the wedding, the Client sends all of their footage to the Videographer digitally, for example by WeTransfer to camcorderweddingfilms@gmail.com. The Client should keep their own copy of the footage until the finished films have been delivered.

11A.3 Edits Only includes the same highlights film, Full Camcorder Cut and Instagram Reel as Pass the Camcorder, as described in Sections 1 to 4 and 11, delivered within 4 weeks of the Videographer receiving the complete footage, in accordance with Section 7.

11A.4 The look and quality of the finished films depend on the Client's own camera and footage. The Videographer has full creative licence over the edit, in accordance with Sections 5 and 15, and accepts no liability for footage that is lost, corrupted or unusable, in accordance with Section 10.14.

11A.5 All other sections of these terms, including payment, cancellation and postponement, apply to Edits Only in the same way. Section 12.4 does not apply, as there is no hired equipment to return.

12. Cancellation by the Client

12.1 The Client has a 14-day cooling-off period after booking, during which they may cancel and receive a refund of monies paid, subject to applicable law. After this period, the deposit and any other payment already made are non-refundable, save as set out below.

12.2 Where cancellation occurs less than 60 days before the wedding date, the Client shall remain liable for 75% of the total package price, less any payments already made, unless otherwise agreed by the Videographer. This sum represents a reasonable estimate of the loss the Videographer may suffer by reserving the date and potentially declining other work.

12.3 If the Videographer is able to re-book the date, they may, at their discretion, refund some or all of the amount paid, less any reasonable costs already incurred.

12.4 Cancellation does not affect the Client's obligations under Section 10 in respect of any hired camcorders already in their possession, which must still be returned in accordance with Section 10.

13. Postponement

13.1 If the Client needs to postpone their wedding, the Videographer will make reasonable efforts to transfer the booking to the new date, subject to availability and at the Videographer's discretion. If the new date is unavailable, the postponement will be treated as a cancellation and the terms in Section 12 will apply.

14. Cancellation by the Videographer

14.1 In the unlikely event that the Videographer is forced to cancel due to serious illness, injury, death or other circumstances beyond their reasonable control, liability will be limited to a refund of monies paid to date.

14.2 The Videographer will use reasonable endeavours to find a suitable replacement where possible, though this cannot be guaranteed, particularly at short notice or at the same price or style. Where a replacement is found, the Client may choose to accept the replacement or receive a refund of monies paid.

15. Artistic Licence

15.1 The Client grants the Videographer full creative and artistic licence regarding the editing of the footage, including music and final film selection. The Videographer's final creative judgement regarding the selection and editing of footage shall be deemed correct.

15.2 If the Client identifies a factual issue with the finished film - for example, someone appearing who should not have been included - the Videographer will make reasonable edits to correct it. This does not extend to requests to change the creative style, structure, pacing, music, shot selection or overall edit: those decisions remain entirely at the Videographer's discretion, and the finished film delivered under this section is final.

16. Guests and Third Parties

16.1 The Client is responsible for informing their guests and relevant participants that filming will take place using the hire camcorders.

16.2 Guest use of the camcorders is addressed in Section 10.13.

17. Model Release and Promotional Use

17.1 The Client grants the Videographer permission to use footage containing the Client for promoting Camcorder Weddings, including on its website, social media, advertising, editorial features and promotional materials. The Videographer will not knowingly use footage in a deliberately derogatory or damaging manner towards the Client.

17.2 If the Client does not wish their footage to be used for promotional purposes, they should notify the Videographer in writing before the wedding.

18. Data Protection

18.1 The Videographer will process the Client's personal information for the purposes of administering the booking, providing the contracted services, communicating with the Client and complying with legal and accounting requirements. Personal information will not be sold to third parties.

19. Limitation of Liability

19.1 In the unlikely event of total loss of footage or cancellation, whether caused by negligence or otherwise, the liability of one party to the other shall be limited to the total value of the contract, except where such limitation is not permitted by law and except as provided in Section 10.14 (footage loss, where liability is excluded entirely). Neither party shall be liable for indirect or consequential loss.

19.2 Camcorder Weddings operates as a trading name of Anna Pumer Photography Ltd. Any liability arising under this contract is limited to, and enforceable against, Anna Pumer Photography Ltd.

20. Client Declaration

20.1 By signing the booking form by adding their names and date below the link to these terms, and by paying the package price under Section 6, the Client confirms that they have read, understood and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions, and wishes to book Pass the Camcorder (including, where selected on the booking form, DJI Pocket 4 cameras, Raw Footage Hire or Edits Only) for their wedding day.
