People act completely differently in front of a mate holding a camcorder than in front of a professional with a proper camera. That’s the whole point of Pass The Camcorder: real, unfiltered moments a pro videographer would never catch.

Your cameras will arrive a few days before your wedding, and you'll need to be home to sign for them. Once you've booked, I'll WhatsApp or email you to arrange a delivery day that's good for you, and a collection day after the wedding too.

CAMCORDERS ARRIVE
Two vintage Sony Handycams are delivered ahead of your wedding day, fully charged and ready to go.
GUESTS FILM THE DAY
Hand them to guests or set up a dispay area, pass them around - no instructions needed (although they are supplied!), just point and press record.
SEND THEM BACK
I arrange a collection from your home/work - you don't have to do anything, except be home or leave the box in a safe place.
RECEIVE YOUR FILM
All the footage is professionally edited into your finished film, Reel, and Uncut Footage. You'll get the Reel asap and the final film within 4 weeks.
FAQS
DO YOU FILM THE FULL SPEECHES AND CEREMONY?
That's up to you and the guests you choose to hand the camcorders to! There's no tripod or mic, so the footage is shot in true home camcorder style. If the ceremony or speeches matter to you, ask a couple of trusted guests to make sure they're covered.
DO YOU DELIVER UK-WIDE?
Yes - camcorders are posted out ahead of your wedding day and returned by post afterward, so this works wherever in the UK you're getting married.
HOW LONG DO WE HAVE THE CAMERAS?
The cameras arrive a few days before your wedding and are collected a few days after, and I'll WhatsApp or email you to arrange days that suit you. That's room for postal disasters, time to get to know the cameras with no last-minute panic, and no rush to pack boxes the morning after. I arrange the courier, you just pop everything back in the box. Getting married abroad? Go for the extended hire. You'll usually be away for longer, flying out before the wedding and often staying on after, so you'll need the cameras for more than a few days. Take them with you, film the rest of your trip too and you'll get all that footage as well.
WHAT IF OUR FRIENDS WOULD RATHER JUST ENJOY THE DAY?
Filming is part of enjoying the day! It's a bit of fun, not a job. Couples often worry nobody will go for it, then their guests end up having the best time with the cameras. People get surprisingly into it, and it gets everyone mixing too.
WHAT IF A GUEST DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO USE A CAMCORDER?
That's part of the charm - most people have never used one, and the slightly clumsy, unpolished footage that results is exactly the look this whole style is built around. I do include some instructions though, on a postcard to be displayed and on the cameras themselves.
IS THE FOOTAGE ACTUALLY VINTAGE, OR IS IT A FILTER?
Genuine hardware - real 2000s-era Sony Handycams, not a modern camera with a retro app filter applied afterward.
CAN WE HAVE A MODERN LOOK INSTEAD?

WHAT WILL WE RECEIVE?
Two digital camcorders, a small panel light for the darker footage such as the dancing, instruction postcards, and depending on what you choose on your booking form, a display case (an extra £50) of either a retro metal lunch box (so far I have ET and Jurassic Park available), a pile of VHS tape cases, a wicker hamper, or I can send it in a hard case and you can display how you like. I also include instruction postcards and two mini easels.
DO WE HAVE TO PAY A DEPOSIT?
Just £100 to lock in your date, with the rest due a month before the wedding (if your wedding is less than 5 weeks away, it's paid in full when you book). The £100 is non-refundable after the 14-day cooling-off period. There's no extra hold on your card for damage.
WHAT IF WE BREAK OR LOSE THEM?
Normal wear and tear (a scuff, a scratch) is completely fine - no charge. If a camera is damaged beyond that, lost, or not returned, you're responsible for the reasonable repair or replacement cost, capped at £150 per camcorder or £400 per DJI Pocket 4 (so up to double that if both are lost). If any damage payment is due, your finished film won't be delivered until that's settled - everything else about your booking stays exactly the same. I have tags on the cameras in case you lose them but try not to!
DOES IT WORK IN THE DARK, LIKE AT THE EVENING DO?
It'll pick up low light the way real 2000s camcorders always did - a bit grainy, a bit glowy. It's not built for pitch darkness, but that soft, imperfect evening look is exactly the vibe this whole thing is going for. I do include one panel light for very dark rooms though! There's no fun in having all black footage and it works really well on the dancefloor.
DO WE GET A SAY IN WHICH DISPLAY BOX OUR CAMCORDERS TURN UP IN?
Yes! Jurassic Park lunch box, E.T. lunch box, a wicker hamper, or just a camera bag you hand around - you pick your favourite on the booking form. Hiring a display is £50, and the hard case is included at no extra charge.
IS THIS ONLY FOR WEDDINGS?
It started as a wedding thing, but it works for any big day you want captured properly imperfectly - hen dos, big birthdays, family reunions. If it's a day worth remembering, it's worth filming.
WILL WE RUN OUT OF MEMORY?
No chance. Every camera has loads of storage, so your guests can film all day and well into the evening without ever running out of space.
I regularly go back through the video and can't help but smile - it transports me straight back to the day and all the emotions!
